Water & Wastewater Treatment Supervisor

Summary

Oversee daily operations of water and wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards while managing maintenance and troubleshooting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Monitor plant performance, water quality, chemical dosing and operating parameters.
  • Lead operators and technicians in routine plant inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot pumps, valves, piping, filters, treatment equipment and instrumentation.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs and contractor activities.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety procedures, environmental requirements and Permit-to-Work requirements.
  • Maintain operating records, chemical inventory, maintenance reports and plant documentation.
  • Identify operational problems and recommend improvements to plant performance and reliability.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, utilities or process plant operations.
  • Practical knowledge of pumps, valves, piping, chemical dosing systems and basic instrumentation.
  • Experience with systems such as wastewater treatment, RO, UF, filters, ion exchange or EDI will be an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of SCADA or HMI systems is preferred.
  • Able to supervise a small team and work independently.
  • Good troubleshooting, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and environmental compliance.
