What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran:
The City of Groveland is one of the most rapidly growing cities in Florida, known as ‘The City of Natural Charm and Unlimited Possibilities. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection and water distribution systems with remote pump station equipment, valves, piping, lift stations and water meters. If you enjoy working outdoors protecting nature’s precious resource, water, then you will find this position challenging and rewarding. Schedule:
· Monday – Thursday, 7am- 5:30pm or Tuesday – Friday, 7am- 5:30pm. Flexibility and extended shifts to meet the seasonal demands of the water and wastewater system. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
· Availability for standby duty and the ability to be “on-call,” working evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Response to emergency events and alarm call-outs required as scheduled and when required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preventative & Corrective Maintenance on lift stations and their assets (generators/auxiliary pumps) including inspections.
  • Servicing the Vacuum station (a collection system that relies on vacuum suction to transport sewage from homes within the neighborhood) is different from the typical gravity/force main sewer system.
  • Fix & repair leaks to water, reclaim, and force mains as they arise.
  • Installs and changes out water and reuse meters.
  • Perform meter reads.
  • Work with Utility billing and customer service relations.
  • City hall generates work orders, whether this is turn on or turn off’s for accounts.
  • Flushes hydrants, maintenance, exercises valves, and performs pressure tests of fire hydrants.
  • Service backflows (if the license is obtained).
  • Work with GIS for locates.
  • Operates various heavy and light equipment including backhoes, crane truck, vac trucks, etc.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

What you will need to Succeed!

  • Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school, including or supplemented by courses in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps, compressors, and plumbing fixtures preferred.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to repair pumping equipment and control switches.
  • Experience with wastewater and water transfer systems a plus!
  • Water Distribution License issued by the state of Florida or the ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Must possess a valid FL driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • CDL is a plus or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a DOT background check, DOT pre-placement physical and DOT drug screen before employment.
