WCVB, the ABC affiliate in Needham, MA, has an opening for a Local News Photographer. We are looking for a photographer with the ability to capture the essence of what is happening in the field and bring it vividly into the homes of our viewers.
You will spend several hours each day in the field shooting, editing and executing creative live shots. You will also edit for newscasts. The ideal candidate is up to date on modern aspects of the medium, has an excellent eye for video, works well with others and always represents the station with the highest journalistic standards and professionalism. You will work with and report to the Lilly Devine.
Responsibilities
- Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs and packages for broadcast and online platforms.
- Work with the assignment desk and reporters to cover daily stories.
- Shoot on assigned professional camera equipment.
- Edit in Adobe Premiere and use ENG, SNG and wireless data to feed completed work to the station.
- Gather video and still pictures for digital platforms.
- Work with reporters and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gathered.
- Work with producers to accomplish their creative vision through vivid video and natural sound.
- Coordinate incoming video elements from crews in the field.
- Work with catalog systems to save, store, record and locate necessary video.
- Produce and publish content to online platforms.
- Maintain organization and ensure proper care and maintenance of gear and equipment.
Requirements
- Training in the art of video photojournalism.
- Professional or college experience in a newsroom.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
- Experience with ENG trucks.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate digital editing tools.
- Computer and software experience, including knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Precis and CNN platforms.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
- Ability to manage the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
- Related military experience will be considered.

Compensation
The base salary range below represents the Company's good-faith estimate for this position in the posted work location at the time of posting.
