About the Role

We are seeking experienced senior nurses to join our Ostomy and Continence Community Services. These advanced practice nursing roles focus on delivering specialist care to adults with continence and ostomy needs, while providing expert consultancy and support to staff across Waitematā services and the primary health care environment.

In these roles, you will undertake comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, prescribe consumables, deliver formal and informal education, and contribute to quality improvement programmes. Successful candidates will bring high-level clinical expertise in all aspects of ostomy and continence management. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating closely with the District Nursing Service and joining a supportive, cohesive group of Nurse Specialists across community sites.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The roles are based at either Rodney or North Shore. We are a team that works at pace, with passion, vision and purpose. Our Clinical Nurse Specialist roles are pivotal to our success, and the successful candidates will be expected to actively engage and collaborate with the wider team.

About you

The ideal candidate will be a Nurse Specialist in Ostomy and Continence or a Level 4 Registered Nurse with a current portfolio, and a minimum of three years' district nursing experience including contemporary current practice in the management of continence & ostomy care.

As you will be relating to patients and staff at all levels, you will need to have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will be able to quickly establish relationships across multiple teams displaying Waitemata’s organisational values.

In addition, you are working towards or have completed a post-graduate diploma relevant to the role. Further support will be provided to further develop advanced practice skills.
