About the Role

The New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service (NZFPMS) is seeking a compassionate and skilled professional to support women experiencing complications associated with pelvic mesh used to treat stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and pelvic organ prolapse (POP).

This is a unique and rewarding role working within a specialist national service. You will provide practical, emotional and advocacy support to women and their whānau as they navigate often complex healthcare journeys. Acting as a key point of contact, you will help ensure patients receive coordinated, person-centred care from referral through assessment, treatment, surgery and recovery.

Working closely with consumers, whānau, clinicians and a wide range of health and community providers, you will identify barriers to accessing care and support women to connect with the services and resources they need.

About the Service

The New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service was established in 2023 in response to recommendations arising from a consumer co-designed review into the experiences of people affected by surgical mesh. The service provides specialist assessment, investigation and treatment for women experiencing complications associated with pelvic mesh procedures.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for someone with exceptional interpersonal skills who is passionate about supporting patients through challenging healthcare experiences.

You will have\:

• Experience working in health, social services, advocacy, care coordination, navigation, or patient support roles.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work effectively with consumers, whānau, clinicians and community agencies
• High levels of emotional intelligence, compassion and resilience
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Experience managing sensitive and confidential information.
• A commitment to person-centred care and advocacy.
• A commitment to achieving equitable health outcomes and supporting Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in practice.
