Wearable Technology Planning Engineer

This role will be based in Huawei Singapore Research Centre. He/she will work together with the local team on next-generation wearable hardware technologies, strategic for both comprehensive health monitoring and sports science within the consumer business hardware engineering planning department. With the guidance from the technology planning manager, he/she will take up the responsibilities as described below:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technology scouting and landscaping in the APAC region; output insight reports on national strategies, university breakthrough technologies, key conferences, and emerging startups, focusing on next-generation smart wearables, comprehensive health monitoring, and sports science.
  • Take responsibility for managing and upkeeping the APAC information and technology resources platform, serving as the strategic point of contact for APAC and HQ colleagues. The major tasks include but are not limited to collection and review of industry dynamics, timely online publication of wearable technology and health domain intelligence, enquiries follow-up, and monthly status reviews.
  • Work closely with the APAC team on various kinds of projects, initiatives, academic events, and other activities driving innovation in sports and health hardware ecosystems.
  • To collaborate and communicate directly with Chinese speaking officers, stakeholders, counterparts, and customers in China HQ team.
  • Assist in other ad-hoc tasks, as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor/Master's degree holder in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Material Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields. Privilege will be given to candidates with at least 1 year of working experience in wearable hardware development, digital health, or sports technology planning roles.
  • Good analytical skills and be able to articulate wearable tech trends and proactive health insights clearly.
  • Passionate about new technologies, especially miniaturized sensors, biosensing, and athletic performance tracking solutions.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken) is required to effectively communicate and collaborate with English- and Chinese-speaking stakeholders, including headquarters, regional counterparts, and customers in cross-cultural and multinational work environments.
  • Professional, responsible, and a strong team player.
  • Occasional regional travel (1 ~ 2 times per year) may be required based on business needs.
