Web Designer
Summary
On-site web designer at a Manchester-based fashion label, owning the design and continuous improvement of its customer-facing ecommerce website — homepage, product, collection and campaign pages, navigation, responsive layouts and a reusable design system — working with Figma, Shopify and CMS tooling and reporting directly to the Director.
Salary: £43,800 - 43,800 per year
Requirements:- Professional experience in web design, UI/UX design or a closely related digital-design discipline.
- Strong understanding of user-interface design.
- Strong understanding of user-centred design and user experience.
- Experience designing customer-facing websites.
- Experience creating wireframes, mock-ups, page structures or prototypes.
- Understanding of responsive web design.
- Ability to design effectively for desktop and mobile environments.
- Strong visual-layout and typography skills.
- Understanding of ecommerce customer journeys.
- Ability to organise complex information clearly.
- Experience using professional interface-design software.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple design priorities.
- Confidence presenting and explaining design decisions.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of a defined business function.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in any of the following would be particularly useful: fashion, womenswear, retail, ecommerce, Figma, Shopify or comparable ecommerce platforms, website CMS systems, HTML/CSS, user testing, website accessibility, conversion optimisation, digital analytics, prototyping, design systems, fashion imagery, ecommerce merchandising.
- Previous fashion experience would be advantageous.
- We will ask you to design and continuously improve our customer-facing website.
- We will ask you to create clear, visually consistent and commercially effective webpage layouts.
- We will ask you to design homepage experiences, collection pages, product pages, campaign pages and other customer-facing areas.
- We will ask you to improve website navigation, information hierarchy and product discovery.
- We will ask you to design responsive digital experiences that work effectively across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
- We will ask you to produce wireframes, page structures, mock-ups, user flows and interactive prototypes where appropriate.
- We will ask you to review existing customer journeys and identify unnecessary complexity or friction.
- We will ask you to improve the journey from initial product discovery through browsing and purchase.
- We will ask you to develop consistent digital standards for typography, spacing, imagery, navigation, buttons, cards and interface components.
- We will ask you to help establish a reusable design system so future digital work remains consistent.
- We will ask you to support the presentation of new collections, seasonal campaigns, featured edits and product launches.
- We will ask you to improve the way products and collections are presented within the ecommerce environment.
- We will ask you to review website behaviour and available analytics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- We will ask you to use evidence and customer behaviour to support design decisions.
- We will ask you to research relevant developments in ecommerce, web design and UI/UX.
- We will ask you to review relevant fashion and ecommerce experiences to understand changing customer expectations.
- We will ask you to test interfaces across different devices and screen sizes.
- We will ask you to identify layout, usability and responsive-design issues.
- We will ask you to prepare clear specifications and briefs where technical implementation requires support from developers or external specialists.
- We will ask you to present design recommendations clearly to the Director and explain the reasoning behind significant changes.

We are Nouvelle Très Belle Robe Ltd, a Manchester-based fashion business entering the next stage of our development. As we grow, we are investing in how our collections are discovered, presented and experienced online, with a focus on a clear, considered, visually refined and easy-to-use website that properly represents our brand. This is a permanent, full-time, on-site role in Manchester, reporting directly to the Director. We offer a salary of £43,800 per annum, 37.5 hours per week, and benefits including casual dress and free parking.
