Description
Hedge is a Dutch software company that creates innovative apps for video professionals. Many of the movies and series you can see on Netflix, movies, or television have our tools in their workflow. With over 50K customers, we're a market leader in the media & entertainment industry.
Based in Utrecht, Hedge is now a 10-year old company with about 20 people, over half of which are engineers. About two thirds of our team is Dutch, working hybrid. The rest is located across the globe, spread out between Minneapolis and Ukraine. We are known for our user experience and ease of use whilst having serious rocket science under the hood.
Who you are
You’re a medior/senior fullstack Web developer with expertise in modern frontend frameworks, most importantly React. On the backend, focus is on Laravel and its ecosystem (nice-to-haves are Next.Js and Tailwind).
As you'll be a core part of the team being in CET or in timezones 1 or 2 hours outside of it is a plus.
What you'll be doing
You'll be joining a seasoned dev and together you’ll work on a range of apps, complementing our native application suite. You’ll be deploying to a wide range of end users (check out some of our customers on hedge.Co) on a daily basis through CI/CD. You’ll use AI tooling like Claude Code, Cursor and Codex to assist you with your work. You’ll be an important part of the initial ideation and architectural design of new features, working together with product leads and developers from other platforms to help deliver the best experience for our users. You will have ample opportunity to interact with scaling cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
What we're offering
As most of the people in our team have families, we're big on ensuring a good work-life balance. We have a 4-day workweek, with six weeks of paid leave. If you're located in The Netherlands, you're welcome to work hybrid;
otherwise this isa fully remote job. Commuting cost is of course fully imbursed, and we have a range of perks and allowances to make working at Hedge quite enjoyable. Compensation for this role is between €69K and €78K, depending on your experience. For Dutch people, that's equivalent to €60K and €68K "bruto".
What we're not big on, is the typical VC-kind of startup vibe. While we have raised money over the years, we focus on a growing a healthy business that isn't loaded with risk. Everyone at Hedge is in it for the long haul, with hardly anyone ever leaving the team. A lot of people on our team used to be freelancers looking for stability and a way out of the craze. If you're looking for a good place to work, to grow, and to prosper, send us a note.
