Overview

We are looking for an experienced and solution-oriented Web Developer to join our growing e-commerce team.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience developing, maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting professional e-commerce websites.

You will work closely with our e-commerce, product management, and IT teams on our online shops and various technical projects. Your responsibilities will include frontend and backend development, performance optimization, integrations, troubleshooting, database-related work, and the continuous improvement of our websites.

We operate large e-commerce systems with a high number of products, so performance, reliability, clean development, and scalability are extremely important.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve company websites and online shops
• Implement new website functions and features
• Maintain and improve existing frontend and backend functionality
• Identify and fix website errors and technical problems
• Improve website loading speed and overall performance
• Optimize websites for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
• Develop responsive and user-friendly website layouts
• Work with APIs and connect external systems
• Develop and maintain integrations between e-commerce systems, suppliers, databases, and websites
• Work with large product databases and product imports
• Optimize database queries and processes where required
• Develop and maintain automated processes
• Troubleshoot API, server, database, plugin, and website-related problems
• Work with product feeds, CSV/XML files, and structured product data
• Implement and maintain tracking, forms, and other website functionality
• Work with existing plugins and extensions and develop custom solutions where necessary
• Maintain clean, structured, and documented code
• Test changes carefully before deployment
• Create backups before making critical changes
• Work closely with management and other team members to understand project requirements
• Provide technical recommendations and solutions when problems occur
• Manage multiple development projects and priorities simultaneously

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday
• 08:00–17:00 German Time (CET/CEST)
• 8 working hours per day
• 1-hour break
• Full-time position
• Remote work

Job Specification

• Minimum 3–5 years of professional web development experience
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Strong knowledge of PHP
• Good experience working with MySQL / SQL databases
• Experience with REST APIs and API integrations
• Experience with e-commerce websites and online shops
• Experience working with large amounts of product data
• Experience with CSV, XML, JSON, and structured data
• Understanding of website and database performance optimization
• Experience troubleshooting frontend and backend problems
• Strong understanding of responsive web development
• Knowledge of Git or another version-control system
• Experience working with servers, hosting environments, and databases
• Experience with JTL-Shop / JTL-Wawi is a strong advantage
• Experience with Amazon, eBay, or other marketplace integrations is an advantage
• Knowledge of SEO fundamentals and website performance optimization is an advantage
• Ability to understand existing code and improve it without causing unnecessary problems
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for technical tasks
• Good written and spoken English
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to meet deadlines
