Web Engineer, Marketing

Hiive is redefining how private companies and their shareholders access liquidity. Through its institutional-grade platform, Hiive brings together buyers, sellers, and issuers to facilitate secondary transactions in venture-backed, pre-IPO companies, introducing efficiency, transparency, and standardization to an otherwise opaque asset class.

Recognized as one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies and backed by leading U.S. investors, Hiive is profitable, well-capitalized, and building a high-performance team to meet growing demand and pursue new market opportunities.

As a Web Engineer, Marketing at Hiive, you will own our marketing web presence: the website, the CMS behind it, and the fast-moving experiments the marketing team wants to run. You'll be the technical half of campaign execution, turning briefs into shipped pages, and building the components and guardrails that let marketers self-serve without waiting on engineering.

In this role, your responsibilities would include:

  • Own and evolve our marketing website — build pages and reusable components so marketers can compose and edit pages without filing a ticket.

  • Work with AI coding tools to stand up microsites, landing pages, and campaign experiments quickly.

  • Own the content model in — the components, fields, and structure that determine what marketing can self-serve versus what needs code.

  • Build and maintain platform-connected components — charts, ticker, company search — against our GraphQL API.

  • Register brand tokens in Builder from Design's Figma source of truth, so marketing can reskin without code.

  • Build and maintain release guardrails, including link checks that stop staging and app URLs from reaching published pages.

  • Handle the technical layer of marketing web: page performance, metadata and Open Graph tags, redirects, sitemaps, structured data, and analytics/tag installation.

  • Partner with other marketing disciplines as the technical half of campaign execution.

  • Keep the codebase readable, deployable, and documented.

Required skills:

  • Strong React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript experience, comfortable building components from scratch.

  • Strong CSS experience, including layout, responsive behavior, and matching a design precisely.

  • Experience consuming a GraphQL API — enough to wire a component to live data and handle failure cases sensibly.

  • Fluent with AI coding tools like Claude Code or Claude Design, and uses them to ship quickly.

  • A bias toward shipping — comfortable with "good enough, live this week" for experiments, and able to tell those apart from pages that need to be durable.

  • Experience working directly with marketers: translating a campaign brief into code, collaborating on scope, and communicating timelines without an engineering manager in between.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with or another component-based CMS (Contentful, Sanity, Webflow, Storyblok, Framer).

  • Next.js and Tailwind experience.

  • Ability to translate designs from Figma and other creative tools into working Builder components.

  • Technical SEO fundamentals — enough to handle something like a broken OG image without escalating.

  • Martech experience: GTM/analytics, form and CRM integrations, tracking and attribution.

  • A/B testing and experimentation tooling experience.

Not required:

  • Backend, infrastructure, or DevOps experience.

  • Financial services or fintech background.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks:

  • Highly competitive salary commensurate with experience and contribution.

  • Opportunity to participate in ownership of a rapidly growing company through our employee stock option plan.

  • Comprehensive 100% employer-paid health & dental premiums and a Health/Personal Spending Account for Canadian employees. (An employer-subsidized benefits program is available for US-based team members).

  • If you are based in Vancouver, enjoy a dedicated desk in our Vancouver, BC HQ, in the heart of downtown, with a fridge stocked with healthy snacks and drinks, an onsite gym, and a gorgeous rooftop amenity.

  • Enjoy a $20-per-day commuter benefit for every day you work in our Vancouver HQ.

  • An engaging social calendar, including bi-weekly catered lunches, bi-weekly “Friday bar,” team workouts, annual summer party, and holiday party, two “onsite” all-team retreats each year, semi-annual team-building events, and Hiive Women’s Network events.

  • Significant opportunities for growth into team leadership and management roles.

  • Entrepreneurial culture and a small and dynamic team.

  • Sponsorship, immigration, and relocation for exceptional candidates.

Hiive is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed.
