Pay: $19.95--$27.50 per hour
A Welding Teacher at The Crucible is responsible for educating students in various welding
techniques and safety protocols within a dynamic and creative environment. The Crucible,
known for its commitment to arts and fabrication, provides a unique space to explore industrial
arts, combining education with innovative design.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of a Welding Teacher at The Crucible include:
- Instruction: Facilitate engaging classroom and workshop sessions focused on practical skills and theoretical knowledge in welding.
- Assessment: Evaluate student performance through projects and hands-on assessments, offering constructive feedback to foster skill development.
- Safety Protocols: Enforce stringent safety procedures in the workshop, ensuring al students understand and adhere to safe practices.
- Mentorship: Act as a mentor to students, guiding them through complex projects and encouraging artistic expression through welding.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations in welding to incorporate cutting-edge techniques into the curriculum.
Working Environment
Welding Teachers at The Crucible work in a vibrant, collaborative atmosphere alongside artists
and makers. The facility is equipped with advanced welding machines and safety gear,
promoting both safety and creativity in the learning process.
The Crucible emphasizes artistic expression through industrial arts, making it essential for the
instructor to create an environment that combines rigorous technical training with innovative
design thinking. Ensuring a safe, supportive, and inspiring workspace is crucial.
Classes are held at night, on the weekends, and during the day during the week. Instructors
have the opportunity to both learn the curriculum for a specific class and to schedule their
participation in a way that works for them. Many instructors come to The Crucible for studio
access before and after their classes.
We ask experienced instructors to initially TA a class so they can learn our curriculum, before moving them into a lead and/or co-teaching position. Pay: We pay $19.95 an hour for a Teaching Assistant role, and $25.00-$27.50 per hour for an
instructor, based on experience and seniority, in the organization.
Non-cash benefits: Faculty members who have worked within the previous 6 months receive
access to the welding department studio at a rate of 1 hour for every 3 hours worked, when
classes are not in session and maintenance is not scheduled.
