Western Culinary Chef

Job Summary

The Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality Western cuisine, ensuring consistency in food presentation, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook Western dishes following established recipes and quality standards to ensure consistent food presentation
  • Assist in daily food preparation and mise en place to support kitchen readiness
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of the kitchen to comply with safety standards
  • Monitor food quality, freshness, and proper storage of ingredients to ensure food safety
  • Minimise food wastage by using ingredients efficiently during food preparation
  • Assist in stock control by tracking inventory and notifying supervisors when supplies run low
  • Collaborate closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and kitchen team to ensure efficient kitchen service
  • Comply with SFA food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned to support overall kitchen operations

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, or Commis Chef in a Western restaurant
  • Knowledge of Western cooking techniques and food preparation methods
  • Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
