Western Culinary Chef
Job Summary
The Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality Western cuisine, ensuring consistency in food presentation, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook Western dishes following established recipes and quality standards to ensure consistent food presentation
- Assist in daily food preparation and mise en place to support kitchen readiness
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of the kitchen to comply with safety standards
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and proper storage of ingredients to ensure food safety
- Minimise food wastage by using ingredients efficiently during food preparation
- Assist in stock control by tracking inventory and notifying supervisors when supplies run low
- Collaborate closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and kitchen team to ensure efficient kitchen service
- Comply with SFA food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned to support overall kitchen operations
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, or Commis Chef in a Western restaurant
- Knowledge of Western cooking techniques and food preparation methods
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
