Wildlife Refuge Specialist

The Department of the Interior is devoted to protecting and preserving the natural resources of this great nation, including National Parks, Landmarks, and the well-being of communities, including those of Native American, Alaska Natives and affiliated Islanders.

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Southeast Idaho National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Hammer, Idaho. At the full performance level (GS-11) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Reviews land and aquatic conservation activities, habitat development, clean-up, contaminant and restoration projects, research studies, population studies, wildlife inventory, and monitoring activities to include species lifecycle requirements and management. Prepares Special Use Permits, as needed, for activities such as grazing, planting and harvesting hay or other crops, wildlife and ecological research, and/or commercial filming. Participates with the Wildlife Refuge Manager and other senior management or agency specialists in the development and review of site plans and designs. Assists the Wildlife Refuge Manager and other senior management in the development of long-range plans, annual work plans, budgets and work schedules. This position is suitable for telework only during and emergency or natural disaster. Salary Information GS-09: $61,722 - $80,243 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
