Summary

Develop, maintain, and optimize C++ software controlling wind tunnel systems and acquiring aerodynamic test data at Airbus, with planned transition to Node.js/TypeScript and Python for next-gen systems.

Job Description

Security clearance: You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check). Travel required: Occasional travel within the UK and internationally. Location: Filton (60% of your working week must be office based). Type: Full time.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the bespoke software that controls the Wind Tunnel and the sophisticated systems acquiring crucial aerodynamic test data.
  • Use C++ to program, maintain, and optimise our current Wind Tunnel software, ensuring maximum uptime and resilience.
  • Design and implement next-gen software for acquisition, control, and analysis using modern languages and frameworks (moving towards Node.js/TypeScript and Python).
  • Develop machine learning models for data analysis, implement validation protocols, and manage the network architecture required to transmit vast streams of real‑time test data.
  • Support digital video systems, data backup, and network integrity.
  • Work with an international team to refine test requirements, bridging the gap between software potential and aerodynamic needs.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in C++ programming.
  • Legacy code proficiency: Proven ability to debug, modify, and stabilise substantial existing source code.
  • Experience developing applications that communicate via TCP/IP and UDP.
  • Practical experience with RESTful APIs and SQL databases.
  • Version control: Skilled in using GitHub for collaborative development.
