Your day at NTT DATA
The Windows engineer, specialist or architect supports enterprise Microsoft Windows Server environments and connected infrastructure services. The role maintains secure, stable and supportable platforms across physical, virtualised and cloud-connected environments.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and administer Windows Server environments.
- Resolve incidents involving operating systems and associated infrastructure services.
- Perform server provisioning, configuration, patching and upgrades.
- Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and related platform services where in scope.
- Troubleshoot performance, authentication, connectivity and storage issues.
- Support vulnerability remediation and operating-system hardening.
- Develop PowerShell automation for recurring administration.
- Support clustering, backup, recovery and disaster-recovery testing.
- Maintain configuration records, technical documentation and runbooks.
- Identify opportunities for standardisation and lifecycle improvement.
- At L4, lead complex operating-system and directory-services investigations.
- At L5, define Windows platform architecture, standards and modernisation roadmaps.
Technical knowledge
- Microsoft Windows Server.
- Active Directory and Group Policy.
- PowerShell.
- DNS, DHCP and authentication services.
- Failover clustering.
- Hyper-V or VMware integration.
- Microsoft Azure integration.
- Security hardening and patch management.
- Monitoring, backup and recovery.
Relevant certifications
- Microsoft Windows Server hybrid-administration certification.
- Microsoft Azure administrator or solutions architect.
- Relevant security, virtualisation or automation certification.
