Wine Steward-Peter Luger Steakhouse-Steady Extra (Caesars Palace LV)
The Wine Steward is responsible for ensuring the wine program, inventory, and all controls are properly maintained. Trains servers in proper wine standards and knowledge.
- Ensure wine service standards are met and maintained.
- Oversee all wine and wine related operations including assisting with monthly inventory, receiving, pricing, reconciliation and sales.
- Maintains wines list including printing, re-writing (vintage changes) and daily descriptions essential to functioning restaurant.
- Manages daily revenue, costs and expenses for wine sales. Assists in managing pricing and cost of goods, making recommendations for improvements.
- Improves overall wine revenues as well as costs.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality service standards are maintained in outlet.
- Maintains service guidelines set for the operation.
- Is knowledgeable about the menu and answers guest questions.
- Take responsibility for handling guest complaints, resolving with management approval.
- Ensure that all areas are kept clean and in proper condition to provide a safe working environment for employees.
- Responds to guest inquiries about other events in the casino such as special events, shows etc.
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Work requires 1-year prior Wine Stewarding /Sommelier experience.
- Must have extensive knowledge of Old World / New World Wines, Liquor, Cocktails, Fortified Wines.
- Intro- Advance Sommelier Certificate preferred or equivalent.
- Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance.
- Work requires interactions with customers, public and co-workers.
- Work requires teamwork with other staff members.
- Work requires schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Must help with all sequence of service standards.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Fast paced, high volume environment involving constant public.
- Requires standing, walking, and lifting a minimum of 50lbs repeatedly.
- Shifts may vary.
- Must be able to handle intoxicated guests in a professional manner.
- Must be able to tolerate secondary tobacco smoke.
