WLAN RDK-B Development Architect
Summary
Architect and develop WLAN, Wi-Fi (4/5/6/6E/7), and EasyMesh Controller/Agent features on RDK-B broadband gateways, routers, and access points for carrier-grade managed Wi-Fi for broadband operators. Core stack: C/C++, Embedded Linux, Yocto, OpenSync, hostapd, OneWiFi, working with chipset vendors like Broadcom and Qualcomm.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect and develop WLAN and EasyMesh features on RDK-B broadband gateways, routers, extenders, and access points.
- Design and implement Wi-Fi functionalities including SSID management, band steering, client steering, channel optimization, load balancing, roaming, QoS, DFS, WPA2/WPA3 security, and Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 capabilities.
- Lead the implementation and integration of Wi-Fi Alliance EasyMesh (Controller and Agent) within RDK-B platforms.
- Develop mesh networking capabilities including topology discovery, backhaul management, steering policies, self-healing, and network optimization.
- Integrate and customize OpenSync, EasyMesh, hostapd, wpa_supplicant, OneWiFi, and vendor-specific WLAN SDKs.
- Work closely with chipset vendors such as Broadcom, Qualcomm, MaxLinear, MediaTek, and Intel to optimize wireless mesh performance.
- Define software architecture for carrier-grade Wi-Fi and mesh deployments supporting broadband operators.
- Troubleshoot complex WLAN and EasyMesh interoperability, roaming, backhaul, and performance issues.
- Collaborate with cloud, networking, and product teams to deliver end-to-end managed Wi-Fi and mesh solutions.
- Ensure compliance with Wi-Fi Alliance EasyMesh, TR-181, TR-069/TR-369 (USP), and operator requirements.
Required Skills & Experience :
- 10+ years of embedded software development experience with at least 5 years in RDK-B.
- Strong expertise in WLAN technologies including IEEE 802.11n/ac/ax/be (Wi-Fi 4/5/6/6E/7).
- Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi Alliance EasyMesh architecture, Controller-Agent implementation, Multi-AP standards, and mesh networking solutions.
- Deep understanding of RDK-B components including CCSP, RBUS, HAL, OneWiFi, WebConfig, and telemetry frameworks.
- Experience integrating OpenSync, EasyMesh, hostapd, wpa_supplicant, steering managers, and WLAN drivers.
- Experience with Qualcomm SON, Broadcom Mesh, Plume/OpenSync, AirTies, or equivalent managed Wi-Fi platforms.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, Embedded Linux, Yocto, and Shell scripting.
- Expertise in client steering, band steering, channel optimization, roaming (802.11k/v/r), and mesh backhaul technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols including TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, NAT, Routing, and QoS.
- Experience with Wireshark, tcpdump, gdb, and wireless packet analysis tools.
