Woodworking and Design Teacher
George School, an all-gender Quaker boarding/day school located in Newtown, PA, seeks a Teacher of Woodworking & Design beginning in August 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Responsibilities
- Develop and teach a three-to-four-year sequence of woodworking, including International Baccalaureate curricula, that complement other visual arts offerings in the Arts Department.
- George School has a modified block schedule of 7 terms. The faculty teach 2 classes per term for 6 terms, and 3 classes for 1 term. Responsible for all aspects of lesson planning, instruction, and assessment.
- Manage and budget for a studio and its supplies and equipment, including machine maintenance and safety checks.
- Assist students with portfolio preparation.
- Oversee student co-op workers.
- Support and showcase the arts on campus.
- Coordinate and facilitate on-campus art shows and various regional exhibitions and competitions with other visual arts faculty.
- Foster a dynamic, interactive, engaging and safe learning environment.
- Partner collaboratively with members of the Arts department and serve as a positive team player within the George School community.
- Serve on a school committee (waived in the first year).
- Advise approximately ten students (waived in the first year).
- Perform other community contributions, which may include coaching a sport, supervising a club, social or dorm activities, or evening study hall.
