Work, Health Safety Coordinator
ABOUT THE ROLE
St Agnes’ Catholic Parish is seeking an experienced Work Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator to join our Work Health and Safety team in Port Macquarie.
Reporting to the WHS Manager, this role will work across our diverse service areas to coordinate and deliver practical WHS initiatives, participate in the scheduled review of our WHSMS to and support leaders and employees in maintaining safe and compliant workplaces.
A key focus of the position will be coordinating specific WHS projects and embedding initiatives into day-to-day operations, including services delivered by third-party contractors. You may also contribute to broader operational WHS and injury management activities as priorities require.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working collaboratively across an organisation, can balance competing priorities and takes a practical, solutions-focused approach to workplace safety.
The position can be offered to the successful applicant on a Max Term Contract till October 2027, In a Part - Time or Full-Time Capacity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and implement WHS projects and initiatives across Parish operations, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation, Standards and Codes.
Work collaboratively with leaders and employees to develop practical WHS solutions and support their documentation for subsequent implementation.
Review, develop and implement WHS policies, procedures and management systems.
Support site leaders and employees with the consistent application of WHS systems and processes.
Digitise WHS checks and processes using our existing WHS software, Mitti.
Participate in annual site safety inspections, reporting and follow-up of corrective actions.
Coordinate WHS training requirements and maintain relevant compliance and renewal records.
Support incident and hazard reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
Assist with workers compensation and injury management activities as required.

WHO YOU ARE
Minimum of five years’ experience in Work Health and Safety, along with demonstrated experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
A Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS, relevant Human Resources qualification or equivalent is desirable.
SIRA-approved Return to Work Coordinator certification is desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult, negotiate and influence across different levels of an organisation.
A practical, resourceful and solutions-focused approach.
The ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and apply sound judgement across varied situations.
Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to establish credibility and rapport with internal stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer literacy and the ability to produce high-quality professional documentation and see it through to completion.
