Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Senior Advisor/Analyst provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for work-integrated learning across the School of Health and Public Safety. This role is responsible for advancing experiential learning opportunities through industry partnerships, innovative placement models, interprofessional education, and continuous improvement initiatives that support student success and workforce development.

The WIL Senior Advisor/Analyst collaborates closely with Academic Chairs, faculty, students, healthcare and community partners, and internal stakeholders to strengthen placement capacity, ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, and deliver high-quality work-integrated learning experiences. The role combines strategic planning, partnership development, operational leadership, data-informed decision-making, and stakeholder engagement to support the School's strategic objectives.

How you'll contribute

Placement Coordination and Operations

  • Lead the planning, coordination, administration, and continuous improvement of practicum and other WIL activities across multiple programs.
  • Oversee placement allocation processes, learner assignments, registration activities, and related administrative systems.
  • Oversee placement management systems, agreements, databases, and documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate learner compliance requirements, including immunizations, Police Information Checks, fit-testing, confidentiality agreements, and other placement prerequisites.
  • Develop and standardize WIL policies, procedures, workflows, and tools to ensure consistency and enhance the learner experience.
  • Provide guidance to Academic Chairs, faculty, staff, and students on WIL processes, requirements, and complex placement issues.

Industry Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary School representative with healthcare organizations, community agencies, industry partners, regulatory bodies, and government stakeholders regarding work-integrated learning.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships that expand placement capacity, support student employment pathways, and address evolving workforce needs.
  • Identify and implement innovative practicum and experiential learning opportunities aligned with program outcomes, accreditation standards, and emerging industry trends.
  • Support preceptors, supervisors, and partner organizations through consultation, communication, and resource development.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of preceptor education and support programs.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external organizations supporting experiential learning initiatives, including the Taylor Family Campus Centre Health Clinics.
  • Represent the School on committees, working groups, and collaborative initiatives related to WIL, clinical education, and workforce development.

Program Quality, Data, and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of WIL and practicum data to support accreditation, compliance, quality assurance, and strategic planning.
  • Develop reports, performance metrics, and documentation for accrediting bodies, regulatory agencies, and institutional reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators related to placement capacity, learner outcomes, partner engagement, and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Academic Chairs and faculty to ensure experiential learning activities align with curriculum outcomes, accreditation standards, and professional practice expectations.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives using stakeholder feedback, operational data, and emerging best practices.
  • Monitor and communicate trends, regulatory updates, workforce developments, and innovations in work-integrated learning and healthcare education.
  • Chair the School's Best Practices in Practicum Committee and promote consistency, innovation, and excellence across WIL activities.

Student and Faculty Support

  • Develop and deliver orientation sessions, resources, and training to prepare students for successful experiential learning experiences.
  • Provide expert guidance to students regarding placement processes, requirements, and complex placement-related concerns.
  • Collaborate with faculty, Student Services, Career Advancement Services, and other departments to support student success and resolve placement challenges.
  • Serve as the primary contact for WIL-related inquiries from students, faculty, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate communication and training initiatives that support consistent WIL practices across all stakeholder groups.

Strategic Planning and Innovation

  • Provide strategic leadership to enhance and expand work-integrated learning opportunities across the School.
  • Advance interprofessional education and collaborative practice initiatives that enable learners from multiple disciplines to learn with, from, and about each other.
  • Lead or contribute to School-wide, institutional, and external projects that strengthen experiential learning and clinical education.
  • Develop recommendations that inform policy, resource planning, and the future direction of WIL programming.

What you bring

Education

  • Diploma in a health-related discipline, education, or a related field is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a health discipline, education, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in work-integrated learning, practicum coordination, clinical education, healthcare education, or a related field.
  • Experience developing partnerships and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience using data and performance metrics to support planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement.
  • Previous leadership, or conflict resolution experience is considered an asset.

  • Possess intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other Microsoft applications.
  • Experience with Smartsheet is considered an asset.
