WorkDay Support Manager

Discussion
  • Newly Created Leadership Role

  • Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne Based

  • Permanent Opportunity

Are you an experienced Workday professional ready to take ownership of a major enterprise platform and lead its ongoing evolution?

We are partnering with a large, complex and highly regarded Australian organisation to appoint a Workday Support Manager to lead the operational management, governance, support and continuous improvement of its Workday environment.

This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible leadership role where you will lead an established Workday support function while helping shape how the platform continues to evolve across the organisation.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of People Services, you will be the operational owner of Workday and lead the team responsible for ensuring the platform performs effectively, securely and in line with business priorities.

This is much broader than day-to-day system support. You will have oversight across Workday service delivery, configuration, incidents and requests, releases, testing, data quality, security, vendor relationships, governance and platform optimisation.

You will also manage the Workday change pipeline and roadmap, working closely with People & Culture, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Workforce Analytics, Information Services and business stakeholders to ensure Workday continues to support an effective employee and leader experience.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing the Workday Support team

  • Managing day-to-day Workday support operations and service delivery

  • Overseeing Workday HCM configuration, business processes, workflows, security and data

  • Leading the resolution of complex and business-critical Workday issues

  • Managing Workday releases, upgrades, testing and production changes

  • Owning governance across data quality, privacy, security, access and audit requirements

  • Managing Workday vendor relationships and support services

  • Managing and prioritising the Workday change pipeline

  • Maintaining the Workday roadmap in line with business and People Services priorities

  • Leading optimisation, enhancement and remediation initiatives

  • Supporting the transition of Workday projects and enhancements into BAU

  • Identifying opportunities for automation, improved self-service and process simplification

  • Providing reporting and recommendations around service performance, demand and operational risk.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Workday or Tier 1 HRIS professional who combines strong functional expertise with genuine people leadership capability.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Significant experience supporting, administering and optimising Workday or a comparable Tier 1 HRIS within a large, complex organisation

  • Strong functional knowledge of Workday HCM, including business processes, security, configuration and data management

  • Proven experience leading and developing a technical or systems support team

  • Experience managing enterprise application support, incidents, service levels, vendors, releases and testing

  • Strong governance, risk, privacy, security and data integrity capability

  • Experience connecting BAU system support with projects, implementations and continuous improvement

  • An understanding of payroll dependencies and employee lifecycle processes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

  • The ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders and manage competing priorities

  • A practical, collaborative leadership style and the ability to balance operational delivery with longer-term platform improvement.

Workday certification across one or more HCM modules and/or ITIL qualifications would be highly regarded but are not essential.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is a chance to take genuine ownership of an enterprise Workday environment rather than simply maintaining it.

You will have the opportunity to influence the roadmap, improve how Workday is used across the organisation, strengthen governance and service delivery, develop the capability of your team and identify opportunities to simplify and automate the employee experience.

For someone who enjoys the combination of Workday, people leadership, stakeholder engagement, governance and continuous improvement, this is an opportunity to have a significant impact.
