Working Student – Finance (m/f/d)
About the Role
We're a fast-growing, Series A/B EdTech company building an AI-powered learning platform used by tens of millions of students across the globe. Our Finance team is looking for a motivated Working Student in Finance to work directly alongside our Director of Finance & People in Berlin.
This is a high-ownership role — not a coffee-and-copies internship. You'll be embedded in core financial operations from day one, while also helping us build the AI-enhanced workflows and intelligent dashboards that will power our financial backbone going forward. If you're a curious, proactive student who loves turning messy data into clear answers and wants to work closely with leadership at a high-growth startup, this role is for you.
Commitment: ~20 hours per week | Ideal duration: 6–12 months | On-site in Berlin
Visa sponsorship: Not available — candidates must be eligible to work in Germany without sponsorship.
What You'll Do
Support the Director of Finance & People with day-to-day operations and keep cross-functional topics moving across teams.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes; coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
Help ensure accurate financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
Assist with operational controlling tasks: prepare monthly reports, maintain trackers, and handle ad hoc data pulls and analyses.
Identify and pilot opportunities to automate manual finance workflows using AI tools, low-code platforms, and smart integrations.
Support coordination with tax advisors, auditors, and legal providers.
Act as a bridge between Finance & People and wider teams such as Growth and Engineering.
Contribute to building intelligent dashboards and KPI trackers that form the foundation of a modern, digital finance function.
What We're Looking For
Required:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
Available for 12–20 hours per week with flexibility to accommodate your university schedule.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and comfort with basic financial data analysis.
Fluency in German (written and spoken); solid English proficiency is a strong plus.
Eligible to work in Germany without visa sponsorship.
Nice to Have:
Prior internship or working student experience in finance, consulting, or a high-growth startup.
Hands-on experience with AI tools and enthusiasm for automating repetitive workflows; familiarity with low-code platforms is a bonus.
Basic understanding of German accounting practices (HGB); curiosity about IFRS is very welcome.
Proactive, self-driven, and pragmatic — you have a builder mentality and thrive working directly with leadership.
Location
This role is based on-site in Berlin, Germany. Regular presence in the office is expected. Remote work is not available for this position.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation details will be shared during the interview process. In addition to a competitive working student salary, you'll get:
Direct exposure to senior leadership and real ownership over meaningful finance work.
A front-row seat to scaling a high-growth, mission-driven EdTech company.
Hands-on experience with modern AI and automation tools in a real business context.
A collaborative, international team environment in the heart of Berlin.
