Working Student (m/f/d) Simulation & Sim2Real

Open 26d

Summary

Working student in Munich to help bridge the gap between simulated and real robot sensor/actuator data using physics simulators and ML techniques.

The AI Research and Development Group of Agile Robots is looking for a Working Student (m/f/d) Simulation & Sim2Real, who will support the development of realism models that close the gap between simulated and real sensor and actuator data.

  • Realism Modeling: Contribute to building learned transformations that map simulated sensor and actuator outputs closer to real-world distributions.
  • Transfer Evaluation: Help measure whether models trained on synthetic data perform better on real robot tasks, and identify where simulated data diverges from real conditions.
  • Pipeline Support: Support the development of reproducible, production-grade simulation pipelines that other AI Research teams depend on.
  • Domain Randomization: Apply randomization and augmentation techniques to reduce gaps between simulated and real sensor or actuator behavior.
  • Cross-Team Coordination: Work with research teams to understand which realism gaps affect their model training the most.
  • Academic Background: Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Programming: Proficiency in Python for building and testing simulation or data pipeline components.
  • Simulation Familiarity: Working understanding of physics simulators such as MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, or Gazebo.
  • ML Foundations: Basic familiarity with how models trained on synthetic data are evaluated for real-world transfer.
  • Sensor Modeling: Exposure to sensor noise models, actuator dynamics, or domain randomization techniques.
  • Robotics Software: Familiarity with ROS or ROS2.
  • Reproducibility: Awareness of versioning, configuration management, or reproducible pipeline design.
  • Dynamic high-tech company combined with financial soundness and world class investors.
  • Join an interdisciplinary, international team with 60+ different nationalities in a collaborative work environment.
  • Lots of development opportunities in the context of our continued growth.
  • Challenging tasks and impactful projects alongside experts that enable professional and personal growth.
  • Corporate Benefits Program that covers health, mobility and learning with 100 € net per month.
  • Modern office facilites with a rooftop terrace overlooking Munich, free drinks & fruits, and regular company events contribute to a good working environment.
