WORKPLACE SAFETY HEALTH OFFICER
Job Summary
Conduct workplace inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health legislation. Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and promote a culture of safety through stakeholder engagement and safety programs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits to verify compliance with occupational safety and health legislation
- Investigate workplace accidents, dangerous occurrences, and occupational diseases to determine causes and recommend corrective actions
- Identify workplace hazards and develop corrective and preventive measures to mitigate risks
- Review risk assessments, safe work procedures, and safety management systems to ensure effectiveness and compliance
- Issue notices, recommendations, and enforcement actions to ensure adherence to safety regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection and investigation reports documenting findings and recommendations
- Provide guidance and advice to employers, contractors, and employees on workplace safety requirements and best practices
- Participate in safety campaigns, awareness programs, and educational initiatives to promote a culture of safety
- Monitor ongoing compliance with workplace safety regulations and standards through regular follow-ups
- Liaise with government agencies, employers, and industry stakeholders to coordinate safety-related matters and share information
- Apply occupational safety and health legislation knowledge to analyze safety data and incidents, identifying root causes and developing solutions
- Exercise sound judgment and work independently to uphold safety standards
- Engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to promote safety awareness and compliance
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications proficiently to document and present safety information
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma WORKPLACE SAFETY related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in occupational safety and health, workplace inspections, safety management, or regulatory compliance
- Ready to work Saturday and Sunday or Public holiday (if need to handover the job)
- Ready to visit site anytime in work progress at site.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- OTHM Level 6 International Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)
- Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety & Health (Level B)
- Other recognized Workplace Safety and Health qualifications
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, marine, oil & gas, or other high-risk industries
- Experience conducting incident investigations and safety audits
