Workshop General Hand

Looking for a practical, active role, where you will be supporting a team responsible for rebuilding critical machine components?

We're looking for a General/Yard Hand to support our busy Component Rebuild Centre (CRC). You’ll play an important part in keeping the workshop running efficiently through a variety of practical tasks across logistics, component handling, dispatch, and workshop support.

This role could be ideal if you enjoy staying busy, take pride in keeping things organised, and like being part of a workshop environment.

What you'll be doing

As our CRC General Hand, you'll support workshop activities by:

  • Receipting and dispatching components

  • Checking, photographing, labelling and documenting components

  • Washing and preparing equipment and parts

  • Assisting with component reassembly once rebuilds are completed

  • Delivering components between our two Christchurch sites (Class 2 licence required)

  • Providing general support wherever needed across the workshop

This is a varied role with plenty of movement throughout the day.

About Terra Cat

Our Christchurch Component Rebuild Centre specialises in rebuilding major Caterpillar components used in some of New Zealand's largest earthmoving, mining, quarrying and construction equipment. From engines and transmissions to final drives and hydraulic components, you'll be working around impressive machinery and equipment that helps keep critical industries moving.

You'll bring

  • A positive attitude and willingness to help where needed

  • An interest in practical, hands-on work

  • A Class 2 driver's licence

  • The ability to work independently and use initiative

  • Experience in a workshop, warehousing, logistics or similar environment
