Worship Pastor
Worship Pastor
New Horizons Community Church | Spokane, Washington
30 hours per week • $45,000 annual salary + $5,000 annual medical stipend
We’re New Horizons Community Church in Spokane, Washington. Our mission is simple: Reaching our world for Jesus and becoming His fully devoted followers through loving Jesus, loving others, and serving our world.
Lead worship and build people
You know that moment when the room starts singing and you can hear the congregation more than yourself? We love that. We’re looking for a Worship Pastor who loves Jesus, loves people, and wants to help a whole church find its voice in worship.
Jesus is the point
Great music matters. So does what happens when rehearsal ends. We want Sundays that are biblically grounded, spiritually meaningful, musically excellent, and genuinely congregational. And we want the people leading them to be growing as disciples, too. The platform isn’t the destination...Jesus is.
Around here, we want to be Christ-centered and Spirit-led, hold our plans with open hands, and be good teammates. We believe in developing people and keeping things simple. We focus on excellence, not unnecessary complexity.
What you’ll get to do...
- Shape Sundays. Plan and lead worship for Sunday services and special gatherings, working closely with the Senior Pastor on the direction and flow of services.
- Help people sing. Choose biblically grounded songs the congregation can own, prepare arrangements, and lead rehearsals that leave the team ready and encouraged.
- Build the team. Recruit, schedule, encourage, and disciple musicians and vocalists. Develop new worship leaders. Learn the stories behind the names on the schedule.
- Partner with our Tech Director. Communicate clearly and bring worship and production together, and yes, we have a Tech Director. You won’t be expected to do both jobs at once, but still expected to learn the basics of tech and able to run the system and train others.
- Be a pastor and a teammate. Care for people, contribute to the staff team, and work with your supervisor to organize your regular schedule and ministry priorities.
You might be our kind of person if...
You can lead a room without making yourself the center of it. You’re a strong musician, but you’re just as interested in helping someone else grow. You can receive direction, have an honest conversation, and lead volunteers with warmth and accountability. Your faith and character hold up when you step off the platform.
Theology matters here. NHCC is voluntarily aligned with the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) and its Wesleyan-Holiness, Arminian, and egalitarian distinctives. You’ll need to meaningfully share those convictions, adhere to our tenets of faith, and participate regularly in the life and worship of NHCC.

Room to rest and recharge
When you’re sick: Paid sick leave accrues each pay period, totaling one normal workweek annually—30 hours for this salaried position. It covers eligible personal and family health needs and the other uses.
Take some time away. This position includes paid vacation. At 30 hours a week, that looks like:
- First year: One week (30 hours) available at six months for use during the remainder of the first year; vacation is generally not used in the first six months.
- Year two: Two weeks (60 hours). Years three and four: Three weeks (90 hours).
- Years five through nine: Four weeks (120 hours). Years ten through fourteen: Five weeks (150 hours). Year fifteen onward: Six weeks (180 hours).
Holidays are extra. You receive paid Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day, separate from vacation. Friday-through-Sunday holidays are observed the following Monday, with special arrangements for Sunday services. A holiday during approved vacation won’t use up your vacation hours.
And yes, we slow down after Christmas. From Christmas Day through New Year’s Day, the expectation is only the minimum work needed for a typical Sunday service. The Sunday after Christmas is still a work responsibility.
Sound like your kind of ministry?
If you want to build people as much as you want to build great Sundays, we’d love to talk. Bring your love for Jesus, your musical gifts, and your heart for the people holding the microphones, and the people singing back.
