WSH Officer

Summary

WSH Officer responsible for implementing the organization's safety and health management system at scaffolding/construction sites, leading risk assessments, conducting safety orientations and toolbox meetings, investigating incidents, and inspecting sites for environmental health compliance.

  • Understand and effectively implement the organization’s SHMS at site
  • Plan, organize and manage EHS promotional activities within the site to cultivate good EHS practices;
  • Provide reasonably practicable and effective EHS recommendations to team members to ensure compliance to legal and other requirements;
  • Motivate, coach and counsel on EHS matter to site workforce on an on-going basis with particular regard for recalcitrant personnel;
  • Co-ordinate the work of team members, allocate tasks and provide effective supervision;
  • Lead the risk assessment team at site;
  • Participate as a risk management team member in the corporate RM organization;
  • Brief project manager/project team periodically on the execution status of the overall safety program;
  • Carry out safety orientations and to conduct daily safety toolbox meeting (if required);
  • Conduct monthly EHS Committee meeting with the company and Subcontractors;
  • Review existing safety measures and recommend safety measures for upcoming works during the safety committee meeting;
  • Recommend Stop Work Order to Project Manager when unsafe conditions arise including to promptly correcting any unsafe conditions or safe work practice;
  • Attend client/consultant safety meeting/ weekly coordination & technical meeting;
  • Lead investigation and maintain records for every first aid case, accident and near miss at the work site;
  • Conduct emergency drills periodically
  • Inspect site to ensure all facilities and equipment relevant to the maintenance of environmental health are in proper working condition and do not pose any environmental health hazard;
  • Identify and discuss environmental health irregularities such as mosquito and fly breeding, rodent infestation, noise / dust / smoke / water pollution, poor housekeeping, earth littering, poor refuse management, poor maintenance of sanitary facilities, etc. and recommend measures to rectify such irregularities;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned
