Summary

Hands-on mid-level data engineer/automation developer building the data infrastructure for utility-scale solar plants: automated collection from monitoring providers, ETL pipelines, database design, data-quality checks and automation of monthly reporting (including Excel/VBA integration). Manila-based remote role; solar-industry experience not required.

We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineer / Automation Developer to support our Manila-based Remote Operations / Production Data Management team for a growing portfolio of utility-scale solar power plants.

The team works with production and operational data from multiple monitoring providers. Much of the current data collection, checking, standardization and reporting workflow is manual and heavily Excel-based.

The main objective of this role is to build, manage and continuously improve the data infrastructure and automation supporting the production-data environment. The role will be responsible for ensuring that underlying data is complete, accurate, current, standardized and technically reliable.

WFH set up

· Build and maintain automated collection of production and operational data from multiple monitoring systems.

· Design and manage the database and data structures used to store, organize and process operational data.

· Standardize and normalize data from different providers into a common internal structure.

· Monitor data pipelines and database updates to ensure data remains complete, current and reliable.

· Build and maintain data-quality controls for missing, duplicate, incorrect, stale or inconsistent data, and investigate and resolve data issues.

· Develop and maintain scripts, ETL pipelines, APIs and system integrations supporting the data environment.

· Automate calculations and data outputs used by the monthly reporting process.

· Integrate automation into existing Excel-based workflows, including VBA / macros where appropriate.

· Preserve raw source data for auditability and reprocessing.

· Maintain, troubleshoot and improve the automation and data infrastructure as systems, providers and business requirements change.

· Support future development of deeper performance analytics, anomaly detection and other data-driven operational tools.

Initial Project – Stage 1

The first priority will be to standardize and automate the existing production-data workflow supporting monthly reporting.

The current environment includes:

· multiple operating solar plants;

· several different monitoring / data providers;

· intraday production and operational data;

· different data formats and structures;

· standardized Excel reporting templates; and

· substantial manual downloading, checking, calculation and data preparation.

Target workflow: Data collection → standardization → validation → database / processing layer → calculations → report-ready output → exception handling

Indicative implementation target: approximately 6–8 weeks, subject to data-source accessibility.

Ongoing Data Ownership

Following implementation, the role will remain responsible for the technical health of the production-data environment. This includes database management, data integrity, pipeline monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, onboarding of new data sources and continuous improvement of the automation.

The Reporting PIC will remain responsible for preparation and review of the monthly reports. This role is responsible for the reliability and quality of the underlying data and systems feeding those reports.

Stage 2 – Performance Analysis

Once the core data environment is stable, the role will support deeper performance analysis, including abnormal production detection, inverter or equipment underperformance, production-loss analysis, availability and downtime analysis, recurring issue identification, trend analysis, dashboards and investigation workflows.

We are looking for a mid-level data engineer / developer with approximately 3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience. Practical capability is more important than a specific number of years.

The candidate should be beyond junior level and comfortable taking ownership of a defined technical workstream from requirements through implementation, operation and ongoing improvement.

We are looking for a practical, hands-on data engineer who can understand an existing operational workflow, identify where standardization and automation will add value, and build maintainable solutions without unnecessary complexity.

Solar-industry experience is not essential. The existing team will provide the necessary operational and engineering knowledge.

This is primarily a hands-on technical role, not a senior management or software-architecture position.
