Today, Hill Robinson offers specialised yacht management, project management for new builds and refit, charter management, corporate services, crew placement, payroll and recruitment, plus a host of other services.


Working in our busy Yacht Operations Department, the Yacht Manager is the centre point for all vessel communications with a range of tasks.



Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Principal point of contact for captains; effectively and efficiently communicate with captains, crew and owner representatives.
  • Be aware of yacht position (StratumFive), schedule and Owner planning, charters etc and anticipate yachts needs.
  • Visit the yacht(s) in person whenever possible
  • Together with Yacht Finance, establish and monitor monthly budgets and communicate/anticipate expenditure
  • Review/comment accounts and produce monthly, quarterly and yearly owner reports as required
  • Coordinate and review insurance, VSAT (and other communications,) vendor and other service contracts and T&Cs.
  • Overview yacht administrator work and give guidance when needed.
  • Organise regular Client Service Team meetings and ensure minutes are produced and distributed and action points are followed up on.
  • Organise regular owner meetings, as and when required.
  • Ensure yacht and crew insurances are renewed in a timely manner and internal procedures are followed regarding the renewal process (e.g. premium and cover comparison between 3 providers).
  • Supervise the claim handling with the insurance brokers together with the yacht administrator.
    Identify opportunities for business growth.
  • Yacht compliance, working directly with Compliance Department, Flag states, Class societies and Port State Control as necessary.
  • Review ISM meetings, Audits etc and follow open issues/incidents with the compliance manager through to closure.
  • Liaise with the project/technical manager to assist with refit admin work; arrange statutory Class and Flag surveys and attendance. Request refit funds and include
  • Support yachts in emergencies including incident/accident reporting and insurance claim coordination.
  • Working with the Captain and Crew department, advise on crew vacancies/selection; ensure certification is correctly verified and in line with manning requirements and salary in line with budget.
  • Participate in Captain interviews, selection, presentation as necessary.
  • Working with the employer, coordinate all captain and crew employment procedures and employment terms.
  • Manage and review annual crew appraisals; Conduct Captain appraisals; with the employer advice on disciplinary matters, dismissals; coordination of departures and/or terminations.
  • Working with the employer, monitor and approve payroll and communicate changes and/or other issues.
  • Oversee crew leave structure / schedules.
  • On boarding / off boarding captains, implementing procedures
  • Develop relationships with Hill Robinson preferred vendors and contractors and be able to advise yachts as

needed.


Skills required:

  • Full command of English language – written and spoken
  • Working knowledge of French – spoken essential; written and advantage
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office – Work, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Teams, Zoom
  • Ability to prepare clear reports and deliver executive summaries.
