Yard Manager

POSITION PURPOSE

The Material Yared Manager is responsible for overseeing all material handling to ensure efficient storage, movement, and distribution of products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage daily material handling operations including storing and shipping product.
Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate material handling staff to ensure productivity and compliance with company standards.
Coordinate movement of product and trailer availability to support production and customer fulfillment needs.
Communicate with Tool Room and Steel Fab department regarding distribution of erection material to job sites.
Apply knowledge of DOT load weights and laws to aid in building loads in Concrete Vision.
Communicate with the haul team to keep them informed of the number and types trailers needed.
Remain informed of how different product types need to be stored and loaded using appropriate dunnage.
Maintain understanding of rigging and equipment including Mi-jacks, trucks, and trailers.
Collaborate with Production, Scheduling, and Logistics teams to optimize material flow.
Coordinate movement of Architectural product to support erection sequence.
Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
Housekeeping as necessary to maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY

Works under direct management of the Plant Manager
Interfaces on a continuous basis with the plant management team, supervisors, crew leaders and production associates
Coordinates with support functions such as Quality, Scheduling, Production, and Logistics.

EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment
Experience working in a precast/prestressed and/or lean manufacturing environment is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday
Outdoor environment
Work area is not climate controlled and may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions
Unscheduled overtime may be required depending on production needs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires standing for long periods of time, lifting (up to 75 lbs.) and bending, repetitive motion with medium force, and an ability to frequently climb up to 15 feet above ground using stairs.
