Yard Supervisor

The role:

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision and coordination of train-set movements, shunting, stabling, inspection preparation, and maintenance support activities within the rail yard or depot. This role ensures that all yard operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational plans, safety procedures, and regulatory standards. The Yard Supervisor ensures rolling stock is positioned, prepared, and ready for service on schedule.

Your responsibilities:

• Manage the Wagon Examiners and Shunting Drivers in the yard.
• Supervise and monitor the performance of Wagon Examiners and Shunting Drivers.
• Report incidents and near misses.
• Interface with third parties, such as SOAC and ENR.
• Manage the assigned team of Wagon Examiners and Shunting Drivers.
• Ensure the team members' medical fitness certificates, competence, personal protective equipment (PPE), and necessary tools are up to date.

Your profile/ qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree / MBA in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in railway operations.
• First experience in managing teams.
• Proven knowledge of all aspects of compliance.
• Knowledge of yard operations.
• Experience in developing, implementing, updating, and monitoring yard systems would be an asset.
• Proven time management and organizational skills.
• Good understanding of the business of a freight railway operation.
• Strong ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact at all levels of the organization, being a team player.
• Ability to work with a diverse workforce in intercultural environments.
• Proficient in MS Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and yard IT systems.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Fluent in Arabic.
