Job Title: Athletic Instructor
Pay Rate: $15–$20 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Weekday evenings and Saturday mornings; additional hours based on program needs

As an Athletic Instructor, you play a vital role in creating positive experiences that help participants grow, learn, and have fun through sports.

Position Summary
The Athletic Instructor leads youth sports classes and activities in a fun, safe, and engaging environment. This position is responsible for teaching fundamental skills in sports such as basketball, soccer, flag football, T-ball, and other recreational activities, while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, has a basic understanding of youth sports, and can create positive experiences that encourage skill development and participation.

Qualifications
• Experience working with children in a recreational, educational, coaching, or athletic setting preferred.
• General knowledge of youth sports such as basketball, soccer, flag football, and T-ball.
• Ability to lead activities, demonstrate skills, and manage groups effectively.
• Strong communication, patience, and enthusiasm for working with youth.
• Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for participants.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work scheduled program hours.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
• Must successfully complete required background checks.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Lead safe, engaging sports classes and activities for participants of varying ages and skill levels.
• Teach and demonstrate sport fundamentals through age‑appropriate drills, games, and skill‑building activities.
• Create a positive, supportive atmosphere that encourages effort, participation, and good sportsmanship.
• Adapt instruction and activities to meet the interests, abilities, and needs of participants.
• Assist with planning and preparing lesson plans and class activities.
• Provide clear instruction, encouragement, and feedback to participants.
• Supervise participants to ensure safety and maintain a well‑organized program environment.
• Communicate with participants and parents in a friendly and professional manner.
• Take attendance and report injuries, incidents, or concerns to the supervisor promptly.
• Set up and take down equipment and help maintain clean, organized program spaces.
• Follow all Park District policies, procedures, and program schedules.
• Represent the Park District in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, move, run, and demonstrate sports skills for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry sports equipment as needed.
• Work may take place both indoors and outdoors depending on program needs.
