Youth Program Coordinator

Summary

The Youth Program Coordinator supports the planning and coordination of youth and family programs at Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center, including scheduling field trips, managing volunteers, and handling administrative tasks, while working with community partners and school districts.

Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center

Location: National City, CA
Schedule: Full-time, evenings & at least one weekend per month required
Reports to: Director of Youth Programs
Compensation: $22-$25 per hour
Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt

Scope of Work: The Youth Program Coordinator supports the planning and coordination of Olivewood’s youth and family programs including the Children's Garden and Nutrition Education Program, Chefcitos, Garden Explorers, High School Programs, and other children’s programs and events. The Coordinator plays a key role in facilitating partner relationships including Olivewood’s partnership with National School District. Program Coordination and Support
  • Collaborate with National School District and Children’s Program Team to schedule field trips for classes, school garden and after school lessons, teacher professional development, and other activities
  • Schedule and coordinate programs on-site, as well as off-site field trips, day camps, private youth programs, and family programs
  • Support invoicing for paid youth and family programs
  • Work alongside youth program teams to support program development and planning activities
  • Support administrative activities including scheduling calendars, registration creation, and tracking
  • Support High School program team in developing relationships with local high schools, recruitment for programs, and other activities as needed
  • Provide programmatic support as needed; including occasionally teaching or assisting with lessons
  • Gather, track, and report program data
  • Serve as point of contact for community members interested in scheduling youth programs at Olivewood Gardens
  • Provide administrative and hands-on support for annual special events such as Day of Play and Halloween
  • Collaborate with community partners

Volunteer and Intern Management
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure children’s and family programs are fully supported
  • Provide oversight and scheduling support for Children’s Program volunteers and interns
  • Ensure an engaging and rewarding experience for volunteers and interns
  • Be a role model of respect, curiosity, learning, and encourage volunteer and intern interests/talents

Communication, Outreach and Team Collaboration
  • Participate in Olivewood staff meetings and activities
  • Manage and plan programming calendar
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key community and National School District stakeholders including district leadership, principals, and teachers
  • Represent Olivewood Gardens in the community at professional and community events

Education/Experience:
  • 2+ years related experience and/or training in program coordination in the fields of education, health, agriculture, culinary arts, physical fitness; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Computer Skills:
This role utilizes a variety of desktop and online tools. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be comfortable using computers and learning new tools, as well as a knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office, a basic social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram). Experience in Canva or other design platforms and virtual meeting platforms, a plus.

Certificates and Licenses:
Acceptable DMV record and valid driver’s license required.
