Youth Programs & Supervision Support

WEEKLY SCHEDULE
10-15 hours per week Monday-Friday, with additional hours available during school breaks, early release days, and summer season. Schedule to be finalized upon hire.

HOURLY PAY RATE
$17.30-$18.75 for anyone 18 or over (and depending upon experience) and $17.13 for anyone under the age of 18.

JOB SUMMARY

The Youth Programs & Supervision Support Staff helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-supervised Club environment. This position works alongside Youth Development Professionals to supervise members, support activities, monitor hallways and bathrooms, assist with transitions, and provide basic reception or operational support as assigned. Staff in this role build positive relationships with youth, reinforce Club expectations, and respond appropriately to safety or behavioral concerns.

We are looking for a dependable, observant, and positive team member who enjoys working with youth and can confidently support a safe and structured environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain active supervision of youth in assigned program areas, hallways, transition spaces, and other common areas.
  • Conduct routine bathroom checks according to Club procedures, monitor for safety concerns, and report cleanliness, maintenance, or behavioral concerns while respecting members’ privacy.
  • Support safe and orderly transitions between program areas, helping youth move promptly and appropriately throughout the Club.
  • Assist Youth Development Professionals with preparing, leading, and cleaning up structured activities and programs.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with youth and encourage participation, cooperation, and respectful behavior.
  • Reinforce Club expectations and use approved positive behavior-management and de-escalation strategies.
  • Respond promptly to safety concerns, injuries, conflicts, or inappropriate behavior and notify the appropriate supervisor.
  • Help maintain required staff-to-youth ratios and communicate before leaving or changing an assigned supervision area.
  • Greet members, families, volunteers, and visitors in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Provide basic reception support as assigned, including answering phones, directing questions, and assisting with member check-in and check-out.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate program spaces.
  • Follow all Club policies and procedures related to youth safety, professional boundaries, confidentiality, emergency response, incident reporting, and mandated reporting.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and other assigned Club activities.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors regarding member needs, program concerns, and daily operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support safe and effective Club operations.

ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This role may use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Most duties will be carried out in Club and outdoors, fields, and areas. Successful program operations may necessitate travel to trainings, vendors, agencies, out-of-town trainings, offices, and other program sites.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products or supplies, up to 25 pounds.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical, mental, and emotional stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position under sometimes stressful conditions; Manual dexterity sufficient to write, use telephone, business machines, and operate an automobile; Vision sufficient to read printed materials; Hearing sufficient to conduct in-person and telephone conversations; Speaking ability in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in the normal conversational distance, on the telephone, and in addressing groups; Physical agility to push/pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, lift a minimum of 25 lbs. walk and stand for a minimum of 3 hours, and to reach overhead; Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment (office, from the club, school, or home site to site), to drive an automobile; Physical, mental, and emotional tolerance to be exposed to the noise generated by children/youth in an enclosed environment; Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions. High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects; superior interpersonal abilities-able to interact effectively with co-workers of all levels and with the representation of other organizations and institutions. Ability to communicate with diverse personalities, tact, maturity, and flexibility.
