Founded in 1948 by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, Boys' Town began as a residential home for boys affected by the war and has since expanded to provide a continuum of services for children and youth in need.

Today, Boys' Town serves both boys and girls, from infants to young adults, many from disadvantaged or disengaged families who have experienced challenges such as neglect, abandonment, or abuse. Boys' Town provides holistic and integrated services including residential care, fostering services, respite care, youth outreach, adventure-based therapy, and clinical intervention.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Boys' Town Residential Services (RS) is a children and young persons home providing residential care for boys between the ages of 10 to 21 in Singapore. RS is a residential home for disadvantaged and disengaged youths with programmes catered exclusively to male residents only. Children and young persons admitted into the residential home are those who are from dysfunctional families and in need of shelter; abused or neglected; in need of care and protection; under family guidance orders; and in conflict with the Law.

Job Purpose

To provide close supervision and accountability of residents, ensuring the residents' well-being is taken care of during the day-to-day interactions.

Job Responsibilities

  • To be attentive and look into the well-being of residents by being available and accountable for the residents' whereabouts when on duty.

  • To provide close supervision and maintain the residents' discipline in accordance with the daily programme.

  • To motivate and actively engage residents to participate in the BT/daily programme.

  • To monitor the sick residents' condition on a regular basis.

  • To carry out any administrative work (timely and accurate event as in Duty Officer's reports).

  • To ensure that the Operations Centre is operational and ready for the next Duty Officer.

  • To maintain the discipline of the boys in consultation with the Executive Director, the Head of Residential Services, and other members of senior management.

  • To participate actively and take ownership of primary/secondary portfolios assigned by Head, Residential Services.

  • To support the implementation of the relevant model of care/ services in accordance with the needs and profile of the residents.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Job Requirements

  • O level/ Nitec/ Diploma

  • Able to work on rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays.

  • Able to work independently and in a team, possess good interpersonal, communication and written skills.

  • Demonstrate emotional maturity and genuine passion for working with young people.

  • To display proactiveness in group discussions in enhancing the services provided to the residents.
