Zonal Business Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Zonal Business Manager based in India.

This leadership role is responsible for driving commercial growth across the Delhi/North India region within the healthcare and vaccine market.
You will own regional sales execution, demand generation, supply fulfillment, and business development activities.
The position combines strategic territory planning with hands-on sales leadership and channel management.
You will lead, coach, and develop Territory Business Managers while ensuring strong execution against sales and coverage objectives.
A key focus will be building demand, strengthening distribution, optimizing inventory, and expanding market reach.
You will also manage relationships with healthcare stakeholders, stockists, opinion leaders, and other key customers.
The role offers significant ownership, field exposure, and the opportunity to shape regional performance while maintaining high standards of compliance and customer service.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop regional beat plans, allocate targets and commercial inputs, monitor execution, and drive secondary sales across the assigned territory.
  • Provide strategic input into territory targets, long-term growth plans, and regional business ambitions.
  • Support the induction and onboarding of Territory Business Managers and ensure they are equipped to perform effectively.
  • Identify and appoint stockists in accordance with established processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual sales performance against agreed targets and ensure consistent achievement of regional objectives.
  • Manage the regional sales operating budget and ensure resources are deployed effectively.
  • Lead sales activities and commercial initiatives to achieve short- and long-term volume and revenue projections.
  • Translate marketing strategies and campaigns, including CMEs, camps, promotional programs, and BTL activities, into effective regional execution.
  • Plan and manage demand forecasting, inventory levels, and supply requirements in coordination with CFAs, stockists, and other distribution partners.
  • Improve supply chain efficiency by maintaining product availability, optimizing the stockist network, and minimizing product expiry.
  • Train, coach, supervise, motivate, and develop Territory Business Managers, strengthening their commercial capabilities and performance.
  • Monitor field-force effectiveness, including call averages, territory coverage, product knowledge, and other sales-force performance parameters.
  • Build strong relationships with opinion leaders, stockists, and key customers while regularly evaluating important accounts within the region.
  • Plan trade promotion activities and ensure effective distribution of products across assigned towns and territories.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and proactively address complex or difficult customer situations.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable business conduct, financial, administrative, regulatory, statutory, pharmacovigilance, and compliance requirements.
  • Promote professional behavior and organizational values while maintaining strong audit readiness and operational accuracy.
  • Execute business and division strategies, participate in strategy meetings and training programs, and represent the organization at relevant customer and industry events.
  • Manage customer and employee attrition while maintaining a strong and sustainable regional business base.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA or postgraduate qualification in Sales & Marketing or Business Management is an advantage.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in the vaccine business, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or people-management role.
    • Demonstrated experience managing product or brand launches and supporting products through subsequent stages of their lifecycle.
    • Strong knowledge of the assigned territory is preferred, with the ability to quickly adapt and build market understanding where prior local experience is unavailable.
    • Excellent planning, territory management, operational, forecasting, and execution capabilities.
    • Strong supervisory and people-development skills, with experience coaching and motivating sales teams.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including fluency in the relevant local language; strong English communication is desirable.
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and professional email communication.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions independently.
    • Self-motivated, highly proactive, and strongly results-oriented, with the ability to generate sales independently when required.
    • Willingness to relocate based on business requirements.
    • Ability to work extensively in the field and travel up to 100% of the time.
    • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a broader commercial team.
