This role spans a broad set of equipment and acquiring product domains. We're looking for someone with hands-on product experience across most of the following — and the appetite to go deep on the rest:
Terminal portfolio strategy Clover, Dejavoo, and Valor lifecycle across sourcing, certification, deployment, in-field performance, and end-of-life; the right device for the right merchant segment.
Back-Office, Inventory, & Merchant Analytics Inventory & Catalog Management,role-based access permissions, audit logs, and tip pooling/payout calculations,Real-time dashboards tracking sales metrics
Payment Processing, Security, & Compliance —EMV & Contactless Kernel Integrations,Ensuring clean payload delivery to Priority’s proprietary core payment rails (like MX Merchant) for rapid clearing, settlement, and chargeback protection, upholding strict PCI-DSS scope reduction standards, managing end-to-end encryption (E2EE), point-to-point encryption (P2PE), and tokenization strategies
Hardware Lifecycle & Device Management (MDM) — Evaluating and certifying next-generation smart terminals (e.g., Pax, Clover, Poynt, or custom Android tablets
What You'll Do
1. Roadmap Execution Ownership
Manage, and execute the product roadmap for the MXPOS software ecosystem (iOS, Android, and web components) and proprietary hardware integrations.
Conduct continuous market research, competitive analysis, and merchant interviews to identify emerging trends, feature gaps, and monetization opportunities in the SMB retail and restaurant space.
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for product health, including active merchant adoption, feature utilization, transaction volume growth, and churn reduction.
2. Cross-Functional Execution & Agile Delivery
Act as the Product Owner within an Agile/Scrum development framework. Write clear, detailed epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and prioritization sessions, making tough trade-offs between new features, technical debt, and bug fixes.
Collaborate with UX/UI designers to develop intuitive user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that minimize merchant friction during checkout and backend reporting.
3. Payments & Hardware Integrations
Oversee seamless integration with modern payment protocols, EMV card readers, contactless payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay), and backend payment gateways.
Manage hardware lifecycles by certifying new terminal peripherals (receipt printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers) in collaboration with external manufacturing partners.
4. GTM, Commercialization, & Lifecycle Support
Partner with Product Marketing and Sales Enablement to create compelling documentation, release notes, training modules, and go-to-market materials for ISO partners, direct sales teams, and merchants.
Act as the tier-3 subject matter expert to support operations, risk, and customer care teams in triaging complex production issues.
Product Experience: 5+ years of technical product management experience, specifically shipping software products in an Agile environment.
Domain Expertise: Strong background in FinTech, Merchant Acquiring, Credit Card Processing, or the Point of Sale (POS) space.
Technical Savvy: Firm grasp of API integrations, cloud-based architecture, SaaS models, and how hardware firmware interacts with cloud software applications.
Methodology: Deep familiarity with Agile tools (Jira, Confluence, Aha!, or Productboard).
Fluency working with engineering and design on technical trade-offs, plus comfort navigating compliance, risk, and regulatory constraints.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Comfort using data analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Pendo, Tableau) to back up assertions and track user behavior.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate highly technical concepts to sales representatives and business concepts to software engineers.
Direct experience launching or managing POS software tailored for retail or food & beverage sectors.
Familiarity with hardware provisioning and remote device management (MDM) protocols.
Knowledge of compliance standards in payments (PCI-DSS, EMV Level 3 certification).
First 90 days: you own and confidently defend a prioritized, data-backed 2-quarter roadmap. You have successfully balanced merchant feature requests, corporate strategic goals, and technical debt.
6 months: you are optimizing the product for growth, expanding market share, and ensuring MXPOS actively contributes to Priority's merchant acquisition goals.You begin exploring or launching adjacent revenue drivers within the POS ecosystem, such as premium software add-ons, deep integrations with Priority's broader proprietary billing/invoicing tools, or advanced reporting suites.
12 months: you aren't just managing MXPOS; you are redefining its place in the competitive FinTech landscape and directly impacting Priority’s bottom line.
