The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is dedicated to addressing the complex health challenges faced by people around the world, striving to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a healthy life. Our customers, which include global populations, healthcare professionals, and policymakers, face significant hurdles such as infectious diseases like malaria and Chagas, the growing burden of non-communicable diseases, and the profound health impacts of environmental factors like air pollution and climate change. We understand that these challenges are not isolated and require a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach. That is why we were founded in 2010, born from an innovative alliance between the 'la Caixa' Foundation and various academic and governmental institutions, to be a beacon of excellence in global health research and knowledge translation. Our work is driven by the needs of the most vulnerable populations. For the communities disproportionately affected by health inequities, we conduct rigorous scientific research to generate evidence that can inform better health strategies and interventions. For healthcare providers on the front lines, we offer training and educational programs to equip them with the latest knowledge and tools. For governments and international organizations, we translate our research findings into actionable policies and global development initiatives that can drive systemic change. By focusing on the transfer of knowledge from research to real-world practice, we aim to close the persistent gaps in health disparities that exist between and within countries. Our ultimate goal is to empower communities and support health systems to build resilience and ensure that scientific advancements benefit all of humanity, creating a healthier, more equitable future for everyone, everywhere.
