In 2006, founder Matt Thomas opened his first teahouse in Portland, Oregon, where he developed a passion for exploring the creative possibilities of tea. What began as a casual teahouse setting quickly evolved when he started brewing kombucha in the basement, using the same high-quality teas served to guests. The kombucha became so popular that in 2008, he decided to bottle it and officially launch Brew Dr. Kombucha as its own brand. From those humble beginnings in a teahouse basement to a 50,000 square foot brewery completed in 2016, Brew Dr. has grown into a nationally recognized kombucha company while maintaining its deep Oregon roots. The company pioneered a non-heat distillation process in 2013 that removes alcohol from fermentation without compromising authenticity, and was the first major kombucha company to earn B Corp Certification in September 2018. Today, Brew Dr. produces organic, raw, probiotic kombucha and sparkling iced teas, committed to carbon neutral operations and using business as a force for good. Their 'Brew Right, Do Right' motto reflects a dedication to quality ingredients, sustainable practices, and community support.
