We are Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a 100% employee-owned environmental consulting firm with a rich history spanning over five decades. Since our founding in 1969 by three scientists in California, just before the enactment of landmark environmental laws like NEPA and CEQA, we have been dedicated to the principles of sound science, technical excellence, and integrity. Our journey began with a pioneering spirit, utilizing science-based analyses to inform community planning and decision-making. Today, with a dedicated team of over 500 professionals across offices in California, the Pacific Northwest, and the Southeastern United States, we continue to build on this legacy. We specialize in a wide array of services, including community and airport planning, environmental analysis and assessment, natural and cultural resources management, environmental restoration and design, and regulatory compliance. Our multidisciplinary approach brings together scientists, planners, historians, archaeologists, engineers, and designers to deliver critical thinking and in-depth analyses for successful policy development and project planning.
