Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) is a self‑supporting state agency founded in 1967 that finances the development and preservation of affordable housing across Illinois. Leveraging the Illinois Affordable Housing Trust Fund, state and federal tax credits, HOME Investment Partnership funds, and its own highly rated bond issuances, IHDA has allocated more than $15 billion to create over a quarter‑million affordable homes. IHDA partners with lenders, developers, local governments, nonprofits, and community groups to provide low‑cost financing, direct assistance for low‑ and moderate‑income homebuyers and homeowners, and technical resources for affordable and mixed‑income rental projects, while overseeing hundreds of affordable rental communities throughout the state.
