About
We are Joni and Friends, a ministry driven by a deep passion to share hope through every hardship and to serve those affected by disability. Our journey began in 1979, born from the personal story of our founder, Joni Eareckson Tada. After a diving accident left her a quadriplegic at the age of 17, Joni experienced a profound journey of faith and discovery. Through her struggles and triumphs, she realized the immense need to support others facing similar challenges, not just with practical help, but with the love and message of Jesus Christ. This realization was the seed that grew into the worldwide ministry we are today. Our mission is to communicate the Gospel and equip Christ-honoring churches globally to evangelize, disciple, and serve people living with disabilities. We envision a world where every person with a disability finds hope, dignity, and their rightful place within the body of Christ. To bring this vision to life, we have developed a range of programs and services that touch thousands of lives. Through our 'Wheels for the World' program, we provide custom-fitted wheelchairs and the Gospel to individuals in developing nations, offering them mobility and a message of hope. Our 'Retreats & Getaways' offer a place of rest, community, and spiritual rejuvenation for families living with disability. We also invest in the future through our internship programs, equipping the next generation of leaders in disability ministry. At the heart of our work is the belief that every person is created in the image of God, deserving of dignity and respect. We strive to create welcoming communities and to break down barriers, both physical and spiritual, that exclude people with disabilities. We are committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing His hope and help to those who are hurting, and fostering a world where everyone belongs.
