About

Many outdoor enthusiasts face the challenge of confidently and legally navigating the complexities of public and private land. It can be difficult to know exactly where property boundaries lie, what areas are accessible for recreation, and how to find the best spots for their adventures. This uncertainty can lead to missed opportunities, unintentional trespassing, or simply a less enjoyable experience in the outdoors. That's why onX was founded: to empower our customers' outdoor pursuits by providing the best mobile experience and the most relevant, accurate land data available. Our customers, whether they are hunters, off-roaders, hikers, or anglers, need to know where they stand, literally and figuratively. Our journey began in 2009 when our founder, Eric Siegfried, an avid hunter himself, recognized the critical need for clear, accessible land boundary information while in the field. He envisioned a solution that combined precise location data with user-friendly technology to support fellow explorers. This vision first materialized as the onX Chip, establishing us as a pioneer in land data. With the launch of the onX Hunt app in 2013, we revolutionized how hunters approached their sport by offering comprehensive digital maps. Since then, we've expanded our offerings to include onX Offroad and onX Backcountry, catering to a wider range of outdoor activities. We understand that the call of the wild provokes exploration, propelling people to discover new ridgelines, coastlines, and hidden trails. Our apps are designed to bring those adventures to life by providing detailed information on public and private land ownership, landowner names, trail networks, points of interest, and offline map capabilities. We are committed to not only helping people explore but also to preserving access to the wild places we all cherish. This commitment is reflected in our Access Initiatives, which actively work to expand and protect open spaces for future generations. Our team, composed of passionate adventurers, builds these tools for adventurers, ensuring that every user can explore with confidence and respect for the land.
