We are Sustainable Energy First, a team of over 470 dedicated sustainability changemakers, and we believe in making a positive difference for ourselves, our clients, and the planet. Founded in 1997 as BiU (Business Utilities UK), our journey began with a mission to solve complex energy management problems for large commercial estates. From the very beginning, we've been a people-focused organization, challenging the statistic that only a small minority of the global workforce feels engaged at work. This purpose has been the bedrock of our growth, allowing us to build a strong, dedicated team that serves some of the UK's largest and most prominent organizations across a diverse range of sectors. In 2022, we embraced a new identity, evolving from BiU to Sustainable Energy First. This wasn't just a name change; it marked a fundamental repurposing of our business to place sustainability at the absolute core of everything we do. We recognize the urgent need for climate action and have committed our talent and technology to improving the sustainability performance of UK businesses in three key areas: economic, environmental, and social. We're proud to be a certified B Corporation, a testament to our commitment to meeting high standards of social and environmental impact. Our approach is different from a traditional Third Party Intermediary (TPI); we aim to share in the decarbonization targets of our clients, working as partners to make truly renewable energy more accessible and help them achieve their Net Zero ambitions. Our goal is to eradicate 327,000 tonnes of CO2e by 2028, a target that inspires and drives us every day.
