What You Will Do:

IT Support Technicians maintain the computer systems and networks within an organization. They provide technical assistance to computer users, install and configure computer systems, diagnose software or hardware issues and solve technical problems. IT support technicians provide client support to internal or external customers, establish a good working relationship with clients, and explain complex information in clear terms to non-IT personnel. This job is involved in IT infrastructure and systems and may also assist with servers and networks.

  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems (malfunctions, can't log into account)
  • Oversee the daily performance of computer systems
  • Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.

THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA MUST BE MET BY THE END OF THE APPRENTICESHIP TO COMPLETE:

  • Apprentices must successfully pass/complete a minimum of 144 hours of employer-selected training courses that align with their competencies (either through relevant college coursework or other training - on-the-job-training does not apply to this requirement)
  • Apprentices must complete 2,000 hours of work at their company.
  • Apprentices must obtain proficiency in 100% of their technical competencies and 75% of their Career-Ready competencies in order to complete the apprenticeship.
  • Age: 16+
