- Provide consecutive interpretation services in Oromo for school meetings, events, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation, facilitating effective communication between parents/guardians and school personnel.
- Adapt to schedule changes and on-call needs, ensuring availability for interpretation services as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times, adhering to ethical interpretation practices.
- Collaborate with school staff to understand the context and requirements of each interpretation assignment.
- Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance interpretation skills and cultural competency.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians, fostering trust and effective communication.
- Provide feedback and suggestions to improve interpretation services and enhance the overall educational experience for non-Spanish speaking families.
- Adhere to the district's policies and procedures, including those related to student data privacy and confidentiality.
- Fluency in Oromo and English, with excellent consecutive interpretation skills.
- Strong cultural competency and sensitivity, with the ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service oriented approach.
- Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate schedule changes and on-call needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with school staff and parents/guardians.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in using interpretation equipment and software.
- Previous experience in interpretation or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
