Account Manager - WAM
Do you know what it takes to keep mowing crews safe, productive, and moving across large service areas? Can you build strong client relationships while keeping schedules, equipment, and budgets on track? Join Yellowstone Landscape as an Account Manager in our Wide Area Mowing (WAM) Division.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you’ll oversee a portfolio of accounts and lead the crews responsible for delivering quality work. You’ll connect what our clients expect with what happens in the field—making sure our teams have the direction, equipment, and support to get the job done.

What This Role Is Really Like
You’ll spend time where the work happens: checking on crews, inspecting completed work, meeting with clients, and working through challenges as they come up. You’ll also need to stay on top of scheduling, time records, job costs, and client follow-up.
Weather changes. Equipment, like our tractors and batwings, inevitably break down. Someone calls out. A client raises a concern while you’re working through another priority. Your team will look to you to assess the situation, adjust the plan, and communicate what happens next.
Wide area mowing takes careful coordination. Moving equipment between locations, working safely along public roadsides, and meeting contract specifications and production deadlines are all part of the job. You’ll need to understand the work well enough to coach your crews, spot problems early, and help find practical solutions.
If you enjoy leading people, solving problems, and seeing the results of a well-executed plan, this role offers plenty of opportunities to make an impact.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop your crews. Hire, train, coach, and retain employees. Set clear expectations and create an environment where people feel respected, supported, and accountable.
- Plan and manage daily operations. Schedule crews, forecast production, coordinate equipment moves, and adjust resources as conditions change.
- Own your client relationships. Serve as the main point of contact, communicate proactively about schedules and service needs, and follow through on concerns, complaints, or property damage.
- Deliver on the contract. Understand each account’s scope of work, inspect job sites, and ensure crews meet quality standards and production requirements.
- Manage hours and costs. Review time daily, maintain accurate job records, monitor performance against budget, and work with crews to improve efficiency.
- Keep safety central to the work. Reinforce safe equipment operation, company procedures, and roadside work practices through regular field interaction and coaching.
- Keep equipment ready. Coordinate maintenance and repairs with the Branch Manager and Mechanic, and ensure crews complete equipment inspections and routine care.
- Work across the team. Coordinate with other Account Managers, subcontractors, specialty departments, Safety, and our Field Support Team to keep work moving.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience leading crews performing public roadside mowing or related services; at least two years of WAM experience preferred.
- At least two years of experience managing multiple employees.
- Knowledge of large mowing equipment, safe truck and trailer operation, equipment loading and unloading, and routine equipment maintenance.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple locations, deadlines, and changing priorities.
- Confidence working with clients, interpreting contract requirements, and addressing concerns professionally. Government contract experience is a plus.
- Comfort using technology to schedule work, review crew hours, track costs, and manage employee information. Experience with Aspire and Crew Mobile is valuable.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet and maintain company driving requirements.
- OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30, CPR, and First Aid certifications preferred.
- Strong communication skills; English/Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.
Relevant field leadership and WAM experience are especially valuable. A degree in Horticulture, Turfgrass, or a related field is preferred but is not required.
