Actuarial Analyst, Longevity Inforce
Summary
Analyzes and manages longevity insurance portfolios, building models in Excel and R to assess profitability, reconcile accounts, and produce management reports for SCOR in London.
This role will support the team in acquiring new business and monitoring its experience and profitability when in-force. Working across a number of areas within the wider team will help the successful candidate develop a breadth of knowledge and skills of the overall business as well as the tools and processes used. Over time there will the flexibility to specialise, depending on experience and specific interests, such as supporting exercises for longevity tenders and basis reviews, undertaking analysis to help support research into longevity bases and tools, as well as supporting the management of the in-force portfolio.
The post holder will be expected to support the senior team in front of clients and other stakeholders, and so will require excellent communication skills and a professional and confident presence.
Key duties and responsibilitied
The Actuarial Analyst will be exposed to a wide range of tasks across the whole team including:
Assisting the Administration teams in reconciling and troubleshooting the more complex aspects of the regular accounts.
Assisting in modelling the inforce blocks of business
Understanding, building and adaption of complex macro-driven premium and annuity claims calculation tools
Understanding and use of Excel tools that determine the current collateral exposures of SCOR and clients under the terms of the swaps
Inforce analyses of inforce deals for the purpose of setting future valuation assumptions, refining future pricing bases and spotting potential treaty breaches and irregularities.
Produce Management Information (MI) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on the in-force business
Building and automating the in-force management processes
Standardise and modernise the in-force management processes and tools
Develop and maintain a good understanding of the risks of longevity business
- Support the Longevity Account Managers in resolving issues with clients in a constructive manner, valuing the importance of our long-term relationships
- Building relationships across the inforce community of our market
Experience:
Good progress with actuarial exams since leaving University
Strong numerical experience
Life insurance/pensions/reinsurance/consultancy experience
Necessary Skills:

Digital Competencies:
Computer literacy with special focus on Microsoft Word (Intermediate), PowerPoint (Intermediate) and Excel (Intermediate - familiarity of formulas such as “IF”, “VLOOKUP”, “INDEX”, “MATCH”, “SUMPRODUCT”, “MEDIAN”, “YEARFRAC”)
Reviewing, maintaining and developing scripts in the ‘R’ programming language
Education
Currently studying towards completing the actuarial exams
Undergraduate degree – grade 2:1
