AI Backend Product Engineer

Summary

Build and ship AI-powered backend features for a unified revenue platform, turning prototypes into production systems while collaborating with product and design.

Monaco is building an AI-native revenue platform that replaces the fragmented GTM stack - CRM, sequencing, call recording, enrichment, pipeline management with one unified system, consolidating 6–10 disconnected tools into a single platform built for the AI era.

We launched publicly in Feb 2026, are already 65 people, and have strong early product-market fit generating millions in ARR within months of launch. You'll have the chance to both scale our core systems and build new features from 0 to 1.

We've raised $85M in our Series B from Founders Fund, Benchmark, and Human Capital, and our founders previously led Brex, Apollo, and Clari.

Come join us if you want to be part of a high autonomy, high pace team reinventing one of the biggest categories in enterprise software.

The Role

We're looking for an AI Backend Product Engineer to help build and shape Monaco's core AI product. You'll work on the AI team, closely collaborating with product and design to turn fuzzy ideas into real features that customers use every day. This is a hands-on role with real ownership — from first prototype to production and beyond.

As an AI-native company, we're especially excited about engineers who are curious about what modern AI makes possible. You don't need to be an ML researcher or have years of AI experience. We care more that you're eager to experiment with new models and tools, learn quickly, and figure out where AI can meaningfully improve the product and how we build it.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship product features end to end across the stack

  • Partner with product and design to solve real customer problems

  • Explore where AI can make existing workflows dramatically better or enable entirely new product experiences

  • Prototype with modern AI models and APIs when they're the right tool for the problem, and turn promising experiments into reliable product features

  • Keep our systems fast, reliable, and easy to iterate on

  • Use AI-powered development tools to increase your own leverage and help us continuously improve how we build software

  • Improve our dev workflows, tooling, and deployment over time

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of experience building product-driven software

  • Strong in at least one modern language (JS/TS, Go, etc.); some Python exposure

  • Experience with web frameworks, APIs, and cloud infrastructure

  • Strong product instincts and comfort working through ambiguous problems

  • Curious, practical, and excited about building with AI - whether you've already shipped AI features or simply spend your own time experimenting with models, agents, and new developer tools

  • Excited to learn quickly as the AI ecosystem evolves; prior professional AI/ML experience is not required

Location

San Francisco. We're an in-person team - 5 days in the office. At this stage, proximity genuinely accelerates product quality and team cohesion.
