AI Engineer Backend

Addressing the urgent shortage of healthcare professionals, Q provides real-time, personal, and reliable support for clinical tasks across the care continuum.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain robust, modular backend systems using clean architectural (SOLID) principles
- Own Cortex end-to-end: architecture, API design, service boundaries, and reliability targets
- Build platform services including automated audit/eval pipelines, patient simulators, and the retrieval layer
- Write fast, well-tested Python services using FastAPI, asyncio, and pydantic
- Wire up multi-agent orchestration, including routing, shared state, and tool interfaces
- Engineer RAG pipelines for high-signal retrieval (chunking, hybrid search, re-ranking)
- Implement observability via structured logs, OTEL tracing, and performance dashboards
Requirements
- Deep understanding of architectural design patterns (Clean/Hexagonal, DDD, SOLID, event-driven)
- At least 2 years of experience building or scaling user-facing AI software
- Expert proficiency in Python, FastAPI, asyncio, and pydantic
- Experience with production observability and agent patterns
- Previous startup experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with real-time and voice technologies (WebRTC, LiveKit, SIP, VAD)
- Knowledge of programmatic prompt optimization and LLM-as-judge evaluation tooling
- Proficiency with GCP (Cloud Run, GKE, Vertex AI, Pub/Sub)
- Familiarity with healthcare data
